Family sculpture day is a free event held annually at Saltwell Park Gateshead.

We provide tonnes of wood, tools and all the nails you need. Eight professional artists will be on hand to help you create and capture your ideas in wood.The event also features the exciting art of Raku Pottery. Using the ancient Japanese technique, you can paint your tile with special glazes, watch it being fired in the kiln and then take it home as a souvenir of your day. Live music will add further to the atmosphere with hammer tapping rhythms.

The initial focal point to the day will be sculptures created by four local schools at Bill Quay Farm the week before the event. Over sixty children work with artists on the events theme to create the centerpiece for Family Sculpture Day. Sculpture Day is a memorable and enjoyable day suitable for all ages. Come and help us create a fantastic display, we'll be there whatever the weather.
Entry is free but there is a small charge for nails, tool hire and Raku pottery. Please bring along your own hammer and lots of ideas.
